Sonia & Naoya’s Wedding – Reception Dinner

Hi everyone! I’ve already posted the pre-wedding photos earlier today, and the ones in this post are from Sonia & Naoya’s Wedding Reception Dinner. I wasn’t able to take any during the actual ceremony, due to the fact that I was sitting on the benches with everyone else… To say the truth, I was jealous of the hired photographers… haha.

During the Reception Dinner, I was only able to take a few shots, also due to the fact that a hired professional was present. I didn’t want to get in his way, so most my shots were taken from where I was sitting. As a request from Sonia, I’m uploading them here so that the guests who don’t have a Facebook account can see them too!

Does something look familiar?

Sonia & Naoya Pre-wedding photos

Back in August, I had the oportunity to photo this lovely couple, for photos that would be used at the entrance of their wedding in months to come. Sonia (some of you may know her as Shino or Shinobu), and Naoya. They were great in front of the camera, and it was a lot of fun photographing them. I’ve been wanting to upload these photos into this blog for quite a while, but had to wait until the marriage was over. And here they are! Only 3 of them were used at the wedding day, but I hope you guys like the rest of them too!

Back to my camera!

It’s been over a month since I went on a photoshoot, and it felt great to hold my Canon again =)

Due to Summer beeing officially over, the days here in Vancouver are getting shorter and shorter. Meaning that, by the time I get off from work and go home, it’s already pitch dark outside. So from now, expect lots of night photography from me =)

The location this time was the Metrotown area, in Burnaby. Me and my kendo buddy Shohei-san spent a good 2 hours carrying around our tripods and camera bags, but it was totally worth it!

My new Kendo Kote!

It’s been ages since I’ve gone on a shoot, so I haven’t uploaded anything in almost a month. I still haven’t had the chance to go out, but I’ve taken a few photos at home, of my new Kendo kote (protective armor for hands). This is also one of the factors that is keeping me busy at the moment =)

Review: Tamron AF 17-50mm f/2.8 SP XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF]

It has been just over a month since I got my Tamron AF 17-50mm f/2.8 SP XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF] lens. There are tons of reviews on this lens out there, so I won’t be going into perfomance tests, but rather, just my own experiences using it out on the field. For a perfomance test, go here: http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/289-tamron-af-17-50mm-f28-sp-xr-di-ii-ld-aspherical-if-canon-test-report–review

Model Photoshoot: Erica CS

Well, haven’t updated my blog in 2 weeks, but finally I stopped procrastinating, and here it is! Fashion Photography is not really my forte, as I don’t really understand much of it. As a suggestion from Christine, the make up artist from my previous shoot, I decided to give it a try, when I was approached for this opportunity. It was definately fun and different, a totally new experience, but at the same time very stressful! Erica 1

Photographer of the Month: Cynthia Lou (bei bei) – Aug 09

Cynthia Lou 1

We are now in August (doesn’t time just fly by so fast?), and it’s time for another Photographer of the Month. This time,  I chose Cynthia Lou (bei bei), whose photos I stumbled across on flickr, and they totally blew me away! I remember going through her photostream, and just mass favoriting a bunch of her photos, while wondering how the hell she even thought of all these cool ideas for a shot.

Back to Steveston

Dog 1

Once again, I’m back to Steveston for another photoshoot. This time, instead of the Kendo guys, Rabi and Andrea joined me on this cool summer afternoon, and the usual group were to join us later in the evening, although David could not make it this time.  But he’s not getting away next week!

My 1st Model Photoshoot!

In my mind, I think it would be awesome if someday, I could photograph as a side job. Photography can be pretty damn expensive, and I would be totally satisfied if I could work to pay even just half of my equipment. In order to make that happen in the future, I will need a strong portfolio to attract clients, and this is where this photoshoot started for me: it’s the first step.

Sunset @ Steveston

Once again, the VKC (Vancouver Kendo Club)  Photography group went on a weekday evening photoshoot. This time’s location was Steveston, in Richmond, famous for all the fishing boats, as well as the fish and chips! Although we didn’t have a chance to dine there due to them being closed by 10pm, we kept busy by taking photos until it got completely dark.

This is a HDR of the main area where many restaurants are located.
